You may be listening to music, talking to your friends, or participating in an online meeting while simultaneously watching a YouTube video on the computer. But when the volume of one application becomes too loud, you don't want to lower the volume of the others.
This is exactly where EarTrumpet comes in handy.
This free, open-source Windows program allows you to individually manage the volume levels of applications that produce sound. It also helps you route the audio of supported applications to different audio outputs. GitHub
Example usage:
- Reduce the volume of the video in the browser.
- Increase the volume of the application you are talking to.
- Change the audio output of the appropriate application to listen to music through speakers and meetings through headphones.
- If you use multiple audio devices, switch between them faster.
How to use?
- Get EarTrumpet from its official link or from Microsoft Store.
- After installation, find the program icon in the system tray.
- Open the audio mixer by clicking on the icon.
- Adjust the volume levels of listed applications individually.
- Rout applications to appropriate devices using the audio output options supported by the program.
For example, if you are listening to a training video while editing a video, you can reduce the volume of your browser and keep the volume of other applications you use higher.
Advantage: You don't need to completely abandon Windows' built-in sound settings. EarTrumpet makes app-based audio management more accessible.
Fee status: It is free and open source. It does not run on operating systems other than Windows. GitHub
