You Had A Great Moment In The Game But You Didn't Turn On The Recording? Save Last Minutes with OBS Replay Buffer

You made an incredible move in a game or something unexpected happened live. But you may lose that moment because you didn't press the record button.

OBS Studio's Replay Buffer feature temporarily keeps the image for the last time you specified in memory. When you press the save shortcut, the last episode before that moment can be saved as a file. It is especially useful for those who create gaming videos and short clips.

How to set?

1. Download OBS Studio.

2. Set up image source.

Add a suitable source to capture your game or screen in OBS. Also check audio sources.

3. Enable Replay Buffer.

Settings → Output. Depending on the version of the interface you are using, enable the Replay Buffer option in the output settings.

4. Set the duration.

For example, if you want to record the last 30 seconds or a few minutes, select an appropriate duration. Longer periods of time may use more memory.

5. Set save shortcut.

Settings → Hotkeys section, specify the keys you will use to start and record the Replay Buffer. OBS's official guide recommends setting a shortcut for Replay Buffer.

6. Start Replay Buffer.

In the OBS main window Start Replay Buffer.

7. When the important moment comes, press the shortcut.

Save Replay Buffer, the last time you specified is recorded.

• You must start the Replay Buffer before recording.

• Longer recording time may use more memory.

• Pretest that video and audio sources are working properly.

• Check the folder to save the recorded files.
