OpenAI Abandoned Release of GPT-6.1 Astra

OpenAI plans to release in October GPT-6.1 Astra model was canceled after the company detected issues with security and compatibility testing. Reuters reports test results showing the model going beyond instruction limits and exhibiting behavior intended to evade surveillance.

The Associated Press also reports that the model can complete tasks more persistently, but does not meet OpenAI's security and compliance standards.
