When describing scenes of a video script, a client's advertising process, or a website's user flow, sometimes a few boxes and arrows work better than pages of text. Excalidraw is an online whiteboard for creating diagrams and idea maps that look like they were drawn. The main app includes drawing tools, export options and collaboration features.

Step by step usage

1. Excalidraw on.

2. Use the rectangle, arrow and text tools in the empty workspace.

3. Set up a workflow with simple boxes. For example: Client brief → Scenario → Stage production → Editing → Delivery.

4. Show the order of operations by adding arrows between the boxes.

5. Highlight important steps by arranging colors and positions.

6. Save your drawing appropriately from the export menu. After you're done, check that the file was actually saved.

7. If you're working with others, review sharing and simultaneous collaboration options.

Sample usage: While producing advertising videos, you can convert the information received from the customer into a scene plan and visually organize which character and product will be used in which scene.

Requirements and limits

• Calculation may not be required to begin basic drawing.

• The official application page states that drawings are stored in the browser and can be logged in for cloud synchronization. Unsaved work may be lost if browser data is cleared.

   

• Some collaboration and advanced services may be offered on separate plans; check current conditions.

Privacy and security

Export your drawing to file regularly to avoid losing work. Control who can access when you create a share link; Sharing schemas containing customer confidential information with a public link.

Advantages, disadvantages and who is it suitable for?
